Man allegedly flashes fake gun in mall

Pacifica police arrested a man Saturday afternoon who allegedly brandished an imitation firearm, police said.

At about 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Linda Mar Shopping Center on Linda Mar Boulevard on a report of an intoxicated person who was trying to drive away, police said.

Someone reported that the suspect displayed and fired a firearm into a business at the shopping center, police said.

Officers arrived and located the suspect and detained him. He was identified as 20-year-old Jeffery Edward Shives Jr. of Pacifica.

Police found a realistic-looking airsoft pistol in Shives’ pants.

Police investigated and determined that Shives brandished the pistol but did not fire it, police said.

Shives also allegedly damaged a cellphone belonging to the person who called police to report him.

Shives was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, brandishing an imitation firearm and felony vandalism, police said.
