Magnitude 4.7 quake strikes Monterey County

A preliminary 4.7-magnitude earthquake Monday morning near Gonzales in Monterey County was reportedly felt in the South Bay and elsewhere in the Bay Area, U.S. Geological Survey officials said.

The earthquake struck at 11:31 a.m. and was centered 14.3 miles northeast of Gonzales.
