A San Francisco man was rescued by a California Highway Patrol helicopter crew Sunday evening in Daly City after the man fell to a beach at the bottom of a cliff, CHP officials said Monday.
At 5:50 p.m., a CHP helicopter crew took off after someone reported a man had slipped as he was hiking on some rocks and fell onto a beach at the bottom of a 300-foot cliff near Mussel Rock Park.
CHP officials said the man injured his legs and was on a beach surrounded by the cliff and water.
Using night vision goggles and a searchlight, the crew hovered the chopper about 1 foot above the rocks and deployed a paramedic who assessed the man’s injuries and helped him into the helicopter.
The crew flew the man to a landing zone where he was transferred to an ambulance.
CHP officials said the man is expected to recover.
