Man stabbed after ‘Marin’s Got Talent’ event

Fairfax police are investigating a stabbing late Sunday night near a downtown bar.

Police came upon a group of people fighting around 10:45 p.m. in the parkade across from the 19 Broadway bar.

The fight’s participants fled in different directions and an officer stopped a vehicle occupied by a 26-year-old Santa Rosa man who had been stabbed in the back and head, according to police.

The victim was taken to Marin General Hospital with wounds that are not considered life-threatening. He was reported to be n stable condition after surgery, police said.

The victim’s brother, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested on an outstanding drug warrant in Marin County, police said.

The stabbing suspect is described as a tall male and police said a knife used in the stabbing was found at the scene.

The victim, his brother and other participants in the fight were attending a hip hop and rap event titled “Marin’s Got Talent” in the bar, police said.

The stabbing victim, his brother and witnesses were uncooperative and did not provide details of the fight, police said.

Portions of downtown Fairfax were closed for several hours after the fight. Ross police, the Central Marin Police Authority and police from the College of Marin also responded.
