The most recent quake was measured as a preliminary 3.4-magnitude earthquake and struck at about 6:20 p.m., about 6.2 miles northeast of San Jose.
A smaller 2.6-magnitude earthquake was reported at about 12:30 p.m. in the same area.
Before that, at 10:32 a.m., a 3.3-magnitude quake reported east of San Jose, near Berryessa Creek, USGS officials said.
