According to Coast Guard officials, at 2:10 p.m. a good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco to report a capsized vessel with two people sitting on the hull.
A Coast Guard crew on an 87-foot patrol boat was nearby and launched a small boat to investigate.
The crew located and retrieved the women, who were both wearing lifejackets. They were taken to a nearby marina at 3:12 p.m. and were uninjured, Coast Guard officials said.
After the rescue, the good Samaritan towed the capsized sailboat to the marina.
