New SF clinic offers services under one roof

San Francisco low-income residents and the homeless now have a new health clinic that offers multiple health and mental services all in one building.

HealthRIGHT 360 held its grand opening for its new Integrated Care Center on Tuesday with Mayor Ed Lee and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in attendance, located on Mission Street and South Van Ness Avenue.

The clinic offers primary medical and dental care, outpatient mental health services and substance use disorder treatment, housing, education and employment resources inside its five-story, 50,000 square-foot building.

Vitka Eisen, CEO of HealthRIGHT 360, said the new clinic represented the idea of having all of the needed services under one roof.

The new larger building has allowed the clinic to expand its number of patient exam rooms from six to 11, and now has a new dental office for clients.

Eisen was particularly excited about the new dental service the clinic, which it did not offer at its old building at 1735 Mission St., Eisen said:

“We see it as an investment in independence and human dignity.”

Eisen added that the dental care service would not only help with keeping a person’s teeth and gums healthy, but will give confidence to people when they apply for a job or attend a teacher and parent conference.

Besides helping get a person’s teeth ready for a job interview, the clinic has a room full of button, collared shirts, jackets, pants and shoes.

Also inside the clinic is the Five Keys Charter School where adults can work on completing a high school GED. The charter school is also located inside the San Francisco jail.

Anyone who enters the clinic will not be turned away said Amy Lessler, marketing and communications manager for HealthRIGHT 360. All of the clinic’s services are available for anyone, even if they have no insurance.

The new clinic was funded by $51 million of New Market Tax Credit and by private donations. Kaiser Permanente and Sutter Health also made contributions to funding the new clinic.

HealthRIGHT 360’s other programs include the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Lyon-Martin Health Services and Walden House.
