Amazon bookstore opens at Santana Row

Amazon hosted a grand opening for its new Amazon Books store at Santana Row Thursday.

According to the company, the store, located at suite 1120 in the shopping mall, “is a physical extension of Amazon.com.” The store will be open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Amazon said the 3,500 books for sale at the store will be presented “face-out, so they can communicate their own essence.”

The company says the books have also received 1.8 million five-star reviews from Amazon.com customers.

It is the second Amazon Books store in California, the other currently in San Diego. The company plans to open two more this year, one regionally in Walnut Creek and another in Los Angeles.
