Lafayette man killed in Barcelona attack

A Lafayette man visiting Barcelona, Spain was confirmed killed in a terrorist attack Thursday in the Catalonian city, family and a U.S. Senator said.

Jared Tucker died in an attack at around 5:30 p.m. on Las Ramblas, a main promenade in Barcelona where terrorists killed 12 others and hurt dozens more.

Tucker was married to Heidi Nunes-Tucker and the father to three daughters.

A gofundme page has been set up to allow people to express their thoughts for the family and to raise money to help with funeral expenses and education and living expenses for his children.

U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris said on Twitter:

Tucker’s nephew Chris Paul Luke set up the gofundme page.

Luke said on the fundraising page:

“During this time, the people of the world have shown an outpouring of support. … From helping with phone calls, translations, visiting hospitals, to simply offering words of love, you have been wonderful.”

Luke asked for people to pray for Jared and his family, for Barcelona and “pray that we can someday rid ourselves of the hate that takes our loved ones before their time.” As of 7:05 p.m. today, the family had raised $18,243.
