Outside Lands, Lady Gaga harmonize for busy Muni weekend

It’s going to be a wild weekend in San Francisco.

The three-day outdoor Outside Lands Music Festival begins on Friday inside Golden Gate Park, which will draw more than 200,000 concert goers inside the park.

According to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, there will be supplemental Muni service on the N-Judah, 5-Fulton, 5R-Fulton and 5X-Fulton Express routes on all three concert days.

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., the local 5 service heading to downtown will make all local stops. The last stop will be at McAllister and Jones streets. The bus destination sign will read “Market and 7th.”

The local service in the outbound direction will run during the same time and will also make all stops along the route to Ocean Beach. Riders can pick up the local service at McAllister and Jones streets. The bus destination sign will read “Ocean Beach.”

The 5R will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. to the park with the destination sign “30th Av.” The first outbound stop is at Market and Sansome streets. The last stop is at Fulton Street and 30th Avenue.

Transit officials will also run an express bus service that will make three stops: Fulton Street and 36th Avenue, Fulton Street and 30th Avenue, and Hyde and Grove streets. The bus destination sign will read “METRO—BART.”

Muni will run own extra trains on the N-Judah and extra buses on the 28th-19th Avenue from 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Testing of Muni’s new trains will pause this weekend and will resume on Monday, SFMTA officials said.

Drivers can expect heavy traffic around the park. Transit officials are encouraging people to not drive to the concert.

Three taxi stands will be available on the south side of Fulton Street near 24th and 25th avenues, 29th and 30th avenues, and 35th and 36th avenues.

Anyone wanting to take a Uber and Lyft can request one at 30th Avenue and Balboa Street.

Concert goers who do not want to deal with crowded Muni buses can buy a pre-paid shuttle pass for $48 online. The shuttle will make pick-ups will occur in front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Pistahan Parade and Festival will take place. The parade is on Saturday and will begin at Fulton and Hyde streets, then east on Market Street to south Fourth Street into Yerba Buena Gardens. The festival will take place on both Saturday and Sunday in Civic Center Plaza.

Muni service will be impacted on Market Street during the parade on Saturday.

Music pop star Lady Gaga is making a stop at AT&T Park on Sunday night as part of her Joanna World Tour. Expect traffic that night around the ballpark.

The 37th Alcatraz Escape from the Rock Duathlon will take place Saturday at 9 a.m. No Muni service will be impacted from the event.

On Sunday, the San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz will begin at 7:30 a.m. The following Muni routes will be affected by the triathlon: 18-46th Avenue, 28-19th Avenue; 29-Sunset, 38-Geary (outbound only), 38R-Geary and 57-Parkmerced, according to the SFMTA.
