Teen jumps from plane onto SFO tarmac

A teenage boy opened an emergency exit on a plane that landed at San Francisco International Airport Tuesday afternoon and exited the plane onto the tarmac, a spokesman for the airport said.

At about 2:30 p.m., a Copa Airlines flight from Panama City was waiting to taxi to an arrival gate when the teen opened an overwing emergency exit got down to the tarmac.

Airport spokesman Doug Yakel said an airfield construction crew took hold of the teen and he is in custody.

Yakel said the teen was not injured and air traffic was not affected.
