Substance sickens 11 at Antioch JCPenney

A hazardous materials crew tonight is attempting to find the source of an unknown substance at a department store in Antioch, which sickened several people, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.

Fire officials first reported the incident on Twitter at about 7:30 p.m. at the JCPenney store located at 4951 Slatten Ranch Road.

The unknown substance was apparently released inside the store and has sickened at least 11 people, with two of the victims being taken to a hospital, fire officials said.

Further information about the incident was not immediately available.
