Nearly two dozen horses were found wandering in the western end of Golden Gate Park early Wednesday morning after they got loose from their corral, according to city Recreation and Park officials.
The horses, who are being kept at Golden Gate Park right now as part of a trial run of a horseback riding amenity, were found wandering outside of their corral at the Bercut Equitation Field on Chain of Lakes Drive around 5 a.m.
The wrangler was able to get them all back into the corral by 7 a.m. with no injuries or other incident, according to Rec and Park officials.
The cause of their escape remains under investigation.
The horseback riding trial has been extended through the end of June. For more information, people can go to sfrecpark.org/about/partnership-opportunities/
