A stabbing early Sunday morning in downtown San Jose involved a San Jose State University football player, according to police and university officials.
San Jose police said an officer was flagged down at about 1 a.m. and was told that someone was stabbed near the corner of Post and South First streets.
The location is three blocks from the university’s campus.
Police will not identify the victim other than to say he is a man.
But university officials said SJSU football player Chad Miller was stabbed late Saturday night or early Sunday morning in downtown San Jose.
Miller is in a hospital and is expected to recover, according to university officials. He is from Vallejo, according to his Facebook page.
The SJSU athletic department’s website says that Miller is a junior safety and a communications major.
