An Amber Alert issued Friday out of San Francisco for a 21-month-old boy who was believed to have been abducted by his father has been called off after the boy and his father were located in Los Angeles this evening, according to the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
The California Highway Patrol first issued the Amber Alert at about 2:10 p.m., as authorities were searching for the toddler, Makai Bangoura, and his alleged abductor, identified as his father, Jason Lam.
After learning that Makai was in Los Angeles, authorities began working with the Los Angeles Police Department and were able to locate the child and his father.
Lam was taken into custody, officials with the District Attorney’s Office said.
Before going missing, Makai had last been seen at 3 p.m. Thursday in San Francisco.
Relatives of Lam had said that he recently experienced mental breakdowns, according to officials with the district attorney’s office.
