Castro streets reopen after package scare

Most streets in San Francisco’s Castro District have reopened late Wednesday night after an incident involving a suspicious package, according to police.

The incident was first reported by the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management on Twitter just before 10 p.m. Officials had asked people near Castro and Market streets, 18th and Castro streets and Diamond Street to shelter in place or avoid the area altogether.

At 11:11 p.m., Officer Grace Gatpandan said on Twitter that the suspicious package had been cleared and that all streets were reopen, except for the 400 block of Market Street.

Further details about the incident were not immediately available.
