Police are searching a Walnut Creek neighborhood for a person suspected of fatally shooting a woman near the Lindsay Wildlife Experience Thursday afternoon.
With help from police K-9s and a California Highway Patrol Helicopter, officers are currently near the homicide scene, actively searching for the suspect after they were able to locate a suspect vehicle in the area, police said.
The fatal shooting was first reported at about 1:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of First Avenue, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound and began providing “life saving measures,” but she died at the scene, police said.
The victim has not been identified and a description of the suspect was not immediately available.
