49ers announce 2017 preseason schedule

The NFL released the 2017 preseason schedule for the upcoming season Monday afternoon.

All 32 teams are slotted to play four exhibition games, including the San Francisco 49ers, which have been scheduled as follows:

Week 1: At Kansas City Chiefs (Aug. 10-14, to be finalized)

Kyle Shanahan can company will first suit up against the Andy Reid-led Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. The 49ers are 6-2 against the Chiefs in the preseason, including a 15-13 win against Kansas City in the 2013 preseason.

Week 2: Vs. Denver Broncos (Aug. 17-21, to be finalized)

The 49ers will host their first preseason game of the year against the Denver Broncos. It will be the sixth consecutive preseason meeting between the two teams and their 39th preseason matchup overall. Last year, the 49ers were able to get their first of two exhibition wins by beating Denver 31-24 at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colo.

Week 3: At Minnesota Vikings (Aug. 27)

Bringing back memories of week one from the 2015 regular season, the 49ers will travel to U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn. to take on the Vikings. The last time these two teams met, the 49ers gave first-year head coach, Jim Tomsula his first career win by beating the Vikings 20-3 at Levi’s Stadium.

Week 4: Vs. Los Angeles Chargers (Aug. 31)

San Francisco will end the 2017 preseason at home against the Los Angeles Chargers. This will be the 31st consecutive preseason meeting between the two teams and the 15th time in the last 16 years that the teams will close out the preseason against each other.
