The California Highway Patrol has issued a Sig-alert and closed all lanes on westbound state Highway 4 in Antioch just east of Lone Tree Way after a multi-vehicle collision Saturday evening.
The incident occurred just after 6:15 p.m. and up to 14 people have been reported injured, according to the CHP.
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District reported on Twitter that five ambulances and four helicopters had been requested as a result of the incident.
Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes while emergency officials clear the area.
