Police have arrested a Vallejo man in connection with a shooting Wednesday in San Francisco’s Oceanview neighborhood that killed one woman and left two others injured.
Jonathan Santos, 24, was located in the 300 block of Mansell Street shortly after the 10:40 a.m. shooting at Plymouth Avenue and Broad Street, police said Thursday.
He was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder and two counts of attempted murder and remains in custody without bail, according to jail records.
Santos allegedly fired the shots that killed 65-year-old Lian Xiu Wu, a neighborhood resident who was walking to a bus stop at the time of the incident, according to family.
Wu was taken to the hospital, where she died of her injuries, according to police.
Two other victims, a 40-year-old San Jose man and a 51-year-old San Francisco man, were also taken to the hospital and treated for gunshot wounds and are expected to survive.
Wu’s nephew, Denny Truong, has started a GoFundMe page to help her daughter relocate to a safer area and cover funeral costs.
Truong said Wu emigrated from China 16 years ago to help take care of family members in the United States. She came without her daughter and worked for 14 years to bring her here before she was finally successful, Truong said.
Truong said on the page:
“She was like a second mom to all her nieces and nephews and cared selflessly for our grandfather. … She was caring, generous and a well-loved family member who will be greatly missed.”
Two other fatal shootings have taken place at the same intersection in the past six months. Josiah Lightfoot, 18, was shot and killed there on Jan. 20 this year and 22-year-old Keron Lamotte was killed on Oct. 7 last year.
A district attorney’s office spokesman said charges had not yet been filed in the case as of Thursday afternoon.
