Point Reyes remains are those of missing woman

Sheriff’s officials in Sonoma County confirmed Tuesday that human remains found last month near Point Reyes Station belong to a 63-year-old Penngrove woman who went missing in 2014.

Annie Bailly was reported missing by her husband on Dec. 7, 2014 after she allegedly left her keys and purse at her Sonoma County home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Her disappearance was considered suspicious at the time and her family had issued a $10,000 reward to help find her.

Detectives received a break in the case last month, when on Feb.

17, drivers involved in a collision discovered human remains over an embankment off Platform Bridge Road between Sir Francis Drake Road and Point Reyes-Petaluma Road, just outside the unincorporated Marin County community of Point Reyes Station.

Marin County sheriff’s officials then recovered the remains and, after an autopsy, confirmed the remains belonged to Bailly.

Evidence suggests that Bailly was murdered, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said today.

The sheriff’s Violent Crimes Detectives are working on the case with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI and the National Park Service, since Bailly’s remains were found on land belonging to the Point Reyes National Seashore.
