SF State Gators host playoff game Tuesday

The No. 13-ranked San Francisco State men’s basketball team turn focus to their second-straight CCAA playoff appearance after splitting a back-to-back, 1,100-mile weekend road trip to close out a 23-4 regular season.

The Gators (16-4 CCAA) host the Golden Eagles of Cal State LA (14-15, 9-11 CCAA) Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at The Swamp after wrapping up the 2016-17 campaign with an 88-74 victory at Humboldt State on Saturday.

SF State was led by junior guard Warren Jackson’s career-high 35 points and AJ Kahlon’s 10-point, 10-rebound double-double. Redshirt sophomore Ryne Williams chipped in 13 points. Tyler Green led the Lumberjacks with 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting, all from three-point range.

The Gators stumbled Friday night in Southern California, losing to host Cal Poly Pomona (11-12, 9-10 CCAA) 65-59.

Despite their best season in 75 years, SF State came up shy of their first CCAA title, finishing one game behind UC San Diego (22-5, 17-3 CCAA) in sole possession of second place.

The Gators are 2-0 against the Golden Eagles this season. The first 450 students in attendance Tuesday will receive a free “The Road Starts Here”T-shirt.
