San Jose airport reports power outage, operates back-up generators

Mineta San Jose International Airport officials are reporting a power outage Friday morning.

Back-up generators are operating, but there may be flight delays until power is restored, officials said at 10:24 a.m.

Southwest Airlines had already canceled 17 flights to Southern California due to weather Friday.

Not far from the airport, Interstate Highway 880 is closed in both directions near Bascom Avenue due to downed power lines across the freeway, according to fire officials.

Motorists have been asked to avoid the area.
