Menlo Park Police installs kiosk for residents to dispose unwanted medication

A kiosk has been installed in the lobby of the Menlo Park Police Department for residents to dispose of unwanted or expired medication, police said Friday.

Medication can be disposed of during the lobby’s business hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and every other Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The lobby is located at 701 Laurel St.

Residents can drop off medication in any form in its original container or in a sealed bag, according to police.

The kiosk is not for herbal products, vitamins, supplements, cosmetics, personal care products, compressed cylinders, aerosols, inhalers, medical devices, sharps, illicit drugs or medication containing iodine.

Police Department staff can answer questions people have, police said.

The installation of the kiosk and collection of unwanted medication is a partnership between the city and MED-Project, a pharmaceutical product stewardship organization.
