Suspect sought in connection with armed robbery at Safeway

Police are asking for help identifying a suspect in an armed robbery Wednesday night at a Safeway store in Pacifica.

At 9:40 p.m. officers went to the Linda Mar shopping center because the robbery had just occurred.

Police said the suspect, who appeared to be wearing a mask that covered his or her whole face, entered the room where the safe is and took out a gun.

The suspect took an undetermined amount of money and left the store in the direction of state Highway 1.

The suspect appears to be a man. Surveillance video shows the person wearing glasses, a gray or tan shirt and black pants.

Police Capt. Chris Clements said officers are still finding out how the suspect got into the room where the safe is.

Anyone with more information is asked to call the Police Department at (650) 738-7314. Anonymous tips can be made by calling (650) 359-4444 or online at http://www.cityofpacifica.org/depts/police.
