At 8:19 p.m., police received a ShotSpotter alert in the area of East Lake Street and Bridge Alley. ShotSpotter recorded eight shots fired in less than 30 seconds, and later recorded another four shots, police said.
At the scene, officers saw two people assisting a female shooting victim from East Lake Street onto North Main Street. When they saw the officers, they dropped the 34-year-old woman in front of a residence and fled north.
The woman was taken to the Natividad Medical Center and treated for gunshot wounds to her foot and ankle, police said.
In the meantime, other officers located a 58-year-old woman near Lake Street and Bridge Alley who was suffering from a grazing gunshot wound to her head. She was also taken to the Natividad Medical Center and placed in the intensive care unit where she is in stable condition. Her injury is not considered life-threatening, police said.
Officers located two more victims in the area of 30 Soledad St. A 60-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound to her left foot and taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, and a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his thigh was taken to Natividad Medical Center, police said.
According to police, two male suspects approached a group of people and pulled out handguns and began shooting. No words were exchanged during the incident and police have not yet determined a motive for the shooting.
The suspects are described as Hispanic males, wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and dark jeans. They were last seen running south on Soledad Street toward Market Street, police said.
