A 60-year-old Aptos man was killed in a rollover crash east of Watsonville on Saturday morning, California Highway Patrol officers said.
The man was driving a 1957 Jeep CJ-5 north on a private driveway at 369 Silliman Road, near the Johnston Corner area off of state Highway 129.
Around 11:20 a.m., the CJ-5 started down a decline in the road and the driver couldn’t slow it down before it ran off the road, CHP officers said.
The man lost control of the CJ-5 and it rolled over. He and two passengers, a 55-year-old Watsonville man and a 52-year-old Salinas man, were ejected.
Medical crews provided first aid but the driver was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m. His name has not yet been released.
The Watsonville man suffered head trauma and the Salinas man had pain on his left side, CHP officers said. Both men also complained of neck pain.
Both passengers were taken to Natividad Medical Center with moderate injuries.
