Monterey County Health Department officials are offering free tuberculosis screenings to individuals who may have been exposed at the Salinas Courthouse on two occasions last year.
One or more people with active TB were in Courtroom 11 on Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and in Courtroom 8 on Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Monterey County Director of Public Health Edward Moreno said in a statement:
“The risk of becoming infected with TB bacteria is very low for people who were present at the Salinas Courthouse during these dates and times.”
Moreno added:
“However, out of an abundance of caution, I am recommending that individuals who were present in courtrooms 8 and 11 at the specific dates and times identified by the Health Department be screened for TB.”
The screenings will be held at the health department at 1270 Natividad Road in Salinas on Tuesday and Feb. 9 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and again on Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., health officials said.
