The 49ers announced Tuesday the organization has agreed to terms with Adam Peters to become the team’s vice president of player personnel.
Peters has spent 14 seasons in NFL front offices. The Cupertino native began his career with the Patriots from 2003 to 2008 before shifting to the Broncos from 2009 to 2016. He has been a part of three Super Bowl championships, five conference titles and 10 division crowns.
Peters joined the Broncos after spending six years in New England. In his first two seasons with the Patriots as a scouting assistant, he was a part of two Super Bowl XXXVIII and XXXIX. In 2005, he handled pro scouting duties for the team before serving his final three seasons with the Patriots as an area scout.
As a member of the Broncos’ personnel department, Peters helped the team acquire 27 players through the NFL draft and college free agency that were crucial members of the Super Bowl 50 championship roster.
Prior to the NFL, Peters spent the 2002 season as a football operations graduate assistant at UCLA after playing defensive end for the Bruins from 1999 to 2001. He transferred to UCLA from West Valley Junior College, where he played tight end for two seasons and earned all-conference honors.
Peters attended Monta Visa High School where he was a two-sport standout in football and baseball during his prep career.
49ers general manager John Lynch said:
“When it comes to stars in this industry, Adam Peters is certainly one of them. … He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from two incredibly successful organizations, and is one of the most respected talent evaluators in the National Football League.”
Lynch added:
“I have known Adam for several years and have great confidence that his drive, work ethic and skill set will be instrumental to the 49ers organization. I know how much John Elway and the Broncos organization value and respect Adam, and I am very grateful that they have allowed him to pursue such a tremendous opportunity.”
