March set for girl who went missing in 1989

Ilene Misheloff, a 13-year-old Dublin girl who was kidnapped while walking home after school in 1989, will be remembered Monday evening in an annual candlelight march in her hometown.

Ilene was a student at Wells Intermediate School, now called T.D.

Wells Middle School, when she was excused early from her physical education class on Jan. 30, 1989. She was last seen walking on San Ramon Road and Amador Valley Boulevard.

Each year, her family, friends and members from the community gather to recreate the 2-mile walk she took that ill-fated day in 1989.

The walk then continues to St. Raymond Catholic Church at 11555 Shannon Ave., where a short ecumenical service is held.

Ilene’s father Mike Misheloff said he and his family are thankful to the group of people, including Ilene’s best friend Liz Allen, who come out and remember Ilene every year, and that he hopes someday soon she will return.

Misheloff said:

“We’re just waiting for Ilene to come home. We still think she is out there.”

Misheloff encouraged anyone with any new information about Ilene’s disappearance to report it to Dublin police.

The walk is set to begin at 7 p.m. at Wells Middle School located at 6800 Penn Drive.
