49ers fans will catch a break from the team in 2017 and beyond, as ticket prices have been frozen for at least the next two seasons.
The 49ers search for a general manager remains ongoing as they continue to wait for Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.
Cardinals vice president of player personnel Terry McDonough and Vikings assistant general manager George Paton have been scheduled for second interviews, sources told CSNBayArea.com. Both were interviewed within a one week span in early January.
The upcoming interviews with McDonough and Paton are expected to be held Saturday in Atlanta. In addition, the Falcons allotted time for 49ers executives Jed York and Paraag Marathe to meet with Shanahan from Friday afternoon through all day Saturday. The Falcons are scheduled to travel on Sunday to Houston to prepare for Super Bowl LI, which will be held at NRG Stadium.
A three-year playoff drought demands more than just a new head coach and general manager. The 49ers announced Tuesday they’ve put a freeze on season-ticket prices through the next two seasons, according to the Mercury News.
The 49ers announced the deal Tuesday an email by vice president of sales and service Jamie Brandt.
Brandt told the Mercury News:
“We are announcing that 49ers season ticket pricing will be frozen through the 2018 season…Invoices for your 2017 season tickets will be made available to view and pay online in the coming weeks, including the option to enroll in a multi-month payment plan.”
This is a thoughtful move on the 49ers’ behalf, but if the organization wants to increase attendance at home games in Levi’s Stadium, all ticket prices should drop.
Brandt’s email concluded with:
“Thank you for your valued and continued support as a 49ers Season Ticket Member. We look forward to serving you this season!”
In order to serve the Red and Gold faithful, the 49ers must keep their promises. They need to check off the items on their lengthy to-do list starting with the quarterback — the NFL’s most important position — along with wide receivers and pass rushers.
The 49ers fired first-year coach Chip Kelly and general manager Trent Baalke after a disappointing 2016 season with a 2-14 record.
