The Newark Police Department is mourning the death of one of its officers who passed away Sunday due to cancer.

Police said in a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page: “Officer Oskar Reyes was a veteran law enforcement officer known for his professionalism and love of the job.”

Dozens of Facebook users lamented his death and sent their condolences to Reyes’ family.
