Police said in a statement posted on the department’s Facebook page: “Officer Oskar Reyes was a veteran law enforcement officer known for his professionalism and love of the job.”
Dozens of Facebook users lamented his death and sent their condolences to Reyes’ family.
Reyes was also a former deputy with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s officials said on Twitter. “You will be missed,” sheriff’s officials said in the post.
