Man rescued from tracks of Powell BART station

BART officials said trains are back on schedule this evening after a man was rescued from the tracks at Powell Street station in San Francisco.

A BART spokesman said as of 5 p.m. trains were running on schedule.

Delays began at 3:40 p.m. when BART officials received a report of someone on the tracks at Powell Street station.

Police and firefighters responded. A man indeed was on the tracks and managed to roll out of the way of trains, spokesman Jim Allison said.

Police and firefighters rescued the man. He was conscious and taken to San Francisco General Hospital.

Allison said it’s unclear how the man ended up on the tracks, but foul play is not suspected.
