Bomb not found at Jewish community center

Marin County sheriff’s officials did not locate a suspicious device at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center in San Rafael that was evacuated Wednesday morning because of a bomb threat.

The search ended around 11:30 a.m. but the investigation of the 8:45 a.m. threat continues, sheriff’s Lt. Doug Pittman said.

Occupants and approximately 200 students at the Jewish Community Center located at 200 N. San Pedro Road were taken to the Venetia Valley School at 177 N. San Pedro Road after the threat, Pittman said.

Surrounding schools also were placed on lockdown as a precaution, Pittman said.

The non-profit community organization has classes for adults, parents, pre-school children and toddlers, swimming pools, a fitness center and performing arts center.
