Santa Cruz supes unanimously elects new chair

The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors has unanimously elected a new chair, county officials said Tuesday morning.

Supervisor John Leopold will be leading the board for the second time, replacing 2016 chair Supervisor Bruce McPherson.

Leopold said in a statement:

“I’m very honored to once again assume the chairmanship of the Board of Supervisors…I look forward to continuing to work closely with the community and my colleagues on the board as we move Santa Cruz County forward throughout 2017.”

Leopold was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in November 2008 and was re-elected in 2012, according to the county’s website.

Leopold represents the First District, including Live Oak, Soquel, the Summit Area, Santa Cruz Gardens and Carbonera.
