The federal government has selected the Organic Farming Research Foundation in Santa Cruz as the recipient of a competitive grant, a foundation spokeswoman announced Monday morning.
The grant was issued by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency, and is designed to facilitate the increased use of the agency’s programs and services among organic farmers.
OFRF’s Executive Director Brise Tence said:
“OFRF is honored to receive this grant and will draw upon our extensive experience communicating the usefulness of USDA programs and other resources to organic and transitioning farmers and ranchers.”
The OFRF will use the grant funds to develop educational resources and conduct outreach on federal benefits and opportunities to organic farmers and ranchers.
