Sir Francis Drake Blvd reopens after main thoroughfare shut down

A main thoroughfare in Marin County has reopened after shutting down because of a fallen tree earlier Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s officials had issued an advisory at 6:57 a.m. about the closure of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard in the area of Samuel P. Taylor State Park because of the fallen tree.

The tree was removed and the road was reopened as of shortly after 8:40 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff’s officials had advised motorists to take alternate routes during the closure but noted that one of those routes, Platform Bridge Road, remains closed Tuesday morning due to flooding from the recent rainy weather.
