16 displaced, evacuation order lifted in SF

Fire officials say 16 people have been displaced at an apartment complex in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley Tuesday morning after a tree fell onto the building.

The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. at 145 Blythedale Ave. in the Sunnydale public housing complex, not at 250 Blythedale as was initially reported, according to fire officials.

In addition to the downed tree, a gas leak was discovered. PG&E crews were called to the scene and residents were evacuated.

However, the scene was declared secure by 9:25 a.m. and residents have been allowed to return to the building.

Sixteen residents were displaced by the incident and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries were reported.

The location is in the same housing complex where another tree fell onto apartments Sunday, displacing two families and a total of seven people, according to Baxter.

That incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at 166 Brookdale Ave. No injuries were reported.
