Prediction signs at Muni stations and shelters along with Muni's smartphone apps have been rendered inaccurate by faulty data.
Muni riders checking NextMuni or any third party mobile application that draws data from the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency on when the next bus or train is arriving, should not count on it working today.
Since Monday, the NextBus or NextMuni system, operated by Cubic Transportation, has been inaccurately predicting arrival times for Muni buses and trains.
Officials at the SFMTA issued this alert out this morning warning passengers to not rely on the system for arrival times:
“We are experiencing intermittent outages with NextMuni predictions. Please pardon us while we investigate the problem with our service providers, AT&T and Cubic. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Predictions have already been disabled inside the Muni Metro, the F-Market and E-Line, according to the SFMTA. They may also disable other predictions as well.
In the meantime, the SFMTA suggests following its twitter account @sfmta_muni for the latest updates.

Well, duh. AT&T announced a long time ago that they were going to be deactivating their 2G network by year's end. I guess they thought the equipment in the vehicles was going to magically upgrade itself.
