The one-alarm fire at 760 De Haro St. was reported at 9:52 p.m., a fire department spokesman said on Twitter.
Firefighters rescued a 90-year-old man and a cat and are working to extinguish the fire. No injuries have been reported.
Residents are asked to avoid the area.
