Fairfield police collect toys for needy kids

Police in Fairfield collected 1,168 toys this year during their second annual Toys for Tots challenge, with more than 500 toys coming from a single school.

Vanden High School came in first place, collecting 538 toys.

Rodriguez High School brought in 389 toys and Green Valley Middle School collected 241 toys, according to police.

The toys were then given to the Fairfield Fire Department, which subsequently distributed them to churches and local groups including Heather House and Fun on the Run.

Police thanked students, staff and parents for their charity and goodwill in making this year’s toy drive a success.
