Officials identify man arrested for gun violation

Marin County sheriff’s officials have identified a Mill Valley man who was arrested after a deputy found and confiscated a loaded gun in his car during a traffic stop Monday night.

Gabriel Holmes was pulled over for a mechanical violation in the 500 block of Redwood Highway Frontage Road between Mill Valley and Strawberry at about 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy searched the car and found a loaded semi-automatic firearm with two additional loaded clips. Holmes was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded and concealed handgun in a vehicle, sheriff’s officials said.

Holmes was taken to a sheriff’s substation where he was released on a citation to appear in court, according to the sheriff’s office.
