Kitchen fire temporarily displaces family

Fire officials said a kitchen fire Sunday evening in a single-story East Oakland home temporarily displaced a family.

The one-alarm fire was reported at 5:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of 94th Avenue.

The American Red Cross is helping the family with its housing and other immediate needs, Battalion Chief Demond Simmons said. No one was injured. The cause is under investigation, Simmons said.
