Two-alarm fire displaced family of four

A two-alarm fire in the Oakland Hills displaced a family of four Thursday night, fire officials said.

Crews responded to the fire at a tri-level home in the 1700 block of Alhambra Lane, near Thornhill Elementary School, at around 10 p.m.

The house and an electric vehicle in the garage were on fire, fire officials said. Crews had trouble getting into the house, but all of the home’s residents were able to evacuate.

Crews brought the fire under control by about 11 p.m. The blaze did very heavy damage to the front of the house and the garage, Oakland Fire Battalion Chief Dino Torres said.

The electric car was so badly burnt that crews couldn’t identify the make or model, Torres said. A second car was inside the garage as well.

The cause and origin are under investigation, but officials believe it originated somewhere around the garage area. No injuries were reported.
