Police looking for burglar posing as pest control worker

San Francisco police are searching for a burglary suspect who snuck into a building in the Hayes Valley area earlier this month by pretending to be a pest control worker.

The male suspect entered a building in the 200 block of Franklin Street around 6:20 a.m. on Dec. 12 fully covered in a white hazmat suit, presented an “ORTHO” card and signed in at the front desk, police said.

“Ortho” is a brand of pest and control products but not a pest control company that makes house calls, police said.

After a security guard was told by a supervisor that no one was authorized to be in the building, the suspect was found on the third flood with one laptop computer in his hands while he worked to disconnect a second one.

Police today released surveillance vide of the suspect and asked anyone with information on his identity to call them at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
