Woman hospitalized after being struck by Muni bus

A pedestrian was hospitalized Monday evening after a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus struck her as she was crossing Market Street.

Around 7 p.m., officers received a report of a traffic collision in the area of Market and Third streets, according to police.

The victim was crossing Market Street when an outbound line 9-San Bruno Muni bus struck her, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.

The victim, a 61-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Police did not say whether the victim was in the crosswalk when the bus struck her.

Rose said Muni officials are working with police to gather video surveillance from the area to figure out exactly what happened.
