Man expected to survive gunshot wounds

Antioch police are investigating a shooting in which a man suffered multiple gunshot wounds on Wednesday night but is expected to survive, police said.

On Dec. 14 at about 10:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of between five and seven gunshots fired in the area of Sycamore Drive and Manzanita Way, according to police.

When officers arrived, they were unable to find the shooter or the victim or any evidence of a shooting.

About an hour later, officers from the California Highway Patrol informed Antioch police that they had responded to the scene of a vehicle collision on westbound state Highway 4 near Bailey Road in which a driver was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and was expected to live, police said.

Antioch police said officers conducted extensive searches but still couldn’t find the location of the shooting.

They have yet to identify the shooting scene or a suspect.
