Reverse driver injures Tenderloin pedestrians

A driver speeding backwards down a street struck two pedestrians in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood Wednesday morning, police said.

The crash occurred just after 11 a.m., when a driver traveling down Hyde Street suddenly reversed and sped backward into two pedestrians waiting at a crosswalk at Golden Gate Avenue, police said.

Both pedestrians were knocked to the ground, and were taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, was also taken to the hospital.

Police Thursday morning did not have information on whether he had been arrested.
