Man shot in downtown Oakland

A man was shot in downtown Oakland Thursday evening, police said.

The shooting was reported near the intersection of 14th and Jefferson streets at 5:20 p.m., police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.

The victim was alert and talking to officers when he was found and taken to a hospital. Investigators are interviewing him there, Watson said. Police could not immediately provide a description of the suspect and are continuing to investigate.
